The Durango Nordic Ski Club headed up northeast to Frisco, Colorado to compete in the last Junior National Qualifier of the season.
Skiers competed in the freestyle sprint on Saturday and the classic mass start on Sunday.
In the sprint on Saturday, Jack Purcell finished 17th in the men’s under-16 race with a time of three minutes and 11 seconds. Archer Nicovich finished ninth in the men’s under-12 race with a time of 3:51. Nicolas Dingler finished third in the men’s under-eight race with a time of 6:19.
Dewa Illg was the lone skier from the DNSC to compete in the women’s under-18 qualifier. She finished 14th with a time of 3:36. Durango’s Betty Holcomb finished 11th in the female under-16 race for team Open Sky with a time of 3:32. Ellie Bruckbauer finished 16th in the same race with a time of 3:47. Janelle Dingler finished 11th in the female under-14 race with a time of 3:45.
On Sunday, Purcell finished 13th in the men’s under-16 mass start with a time of 17 minutes and 51 seconds. Holcomb finished eighth for team Open Sky in the women’s under-16 with a time of 19:07. Bruckbauer finished 17th with a time of 21:49 in the women’s under-16.
Ilg finished 11th in the women’s under-18 mass start with a time of 39:58. Janelle Dingler finished 11th as well in the women’s under-14 race with a time of 13:50. Nicovich finished 11th in the men’s under-12 race with a time of 13:52.9. Nicolas Dingler finished fourth in the men’s under-eight race with a time of 9:27.
