Durango Public Library hosts Hygge Series

Hygge (pronounced “hyoo-guh”) is a Danish concept that basically translates to creating a warm, cozy atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. As winter approaches, Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave., will host a series of programs in November and December that bring people together and help us prepare for the coming dark and cold.

  • From 6 to 7 p.m. Nov. 6, Caprice Fox, owner of Create Art and Tea, will host Tea 101 at the library. This program will include an introduction to the history of tea and a tasting of different varieties. Space is limited, so preregistration is required. Call or stop by the library or visit www.bit.ly/3Nmf1dH to register.
  • For the Nov. 14 session of the adult crafting program Crafternoons, participants can make personalized paper bag luminarias. This bilingual program runs monthly on the second Thursday of the month from 4 to 5:30 p.m. with a different craft each session. No registration is necessary for this event.
  • From 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 7, the library will host a Yarn Meetup open to knitters, crocheters and all other yarn crafters of all ages and all levels. Everyone is invited to work on their projects in a cozy group setting. Interested in learning? There will be informal learning opportunities at the event as well. Needles/hooks and extra yarn will be available. Yarn work is a great way to get us through the chill of winter, both in the process and the product. No registration is necessary for this event.

All Durango Public Library programs are free and open to the public.
