The Durango High School softball team will conclude its regular season with a trio of games this week.

The Demons, who sit at No. 28 in the Ratings Percentage Index, will play a doubleheader at Fruita Monument (8-11, 2-2 4A/5A Southwestern League) on Friday. In class 5A, the Wildcats sit at No. 24 in RPI.

The playoff brackets will be released the next week with the regional tournaments beginning on Oct. 16.

The Demons are coming off a pair of losses to Grand Junction Central, the No. 8-ranked team in Class 5A.

On Saturday, DHS fell to Central 15-0 and 13-1.

In the first loss, Durango didn’t get a hit against the Warriors while also committing four errors that led to six unearned runs.

The team played better in the second game, getting five base hits while cuttings its errors in half.

Teagan Kehm brought home Carly Piccoli to get the Demons’ on the scoreboard. Meah Mordecai, Alasia Kremer, Tehya Barns, Piccoli and Kehm all had hits in the game.

Kelly Arthur also also started on the mound for the first time, giving up eight earned runs in three innings.
