Three Durango Youth American Football teams opened the 2015 season with a win Saturday.
The fourth grade Demons faced the closest challenge, beating Bloomfield 14-0.
Brett Hamer and Zac Unruh scored for Durango, while Tanner Anderson and Connor McCroskey each had seven tackles and a sack.
The fourth grade Demons will host Shiprock at 3 p.m. Saturday at Miller Middle School.
Both the third and sixth grade Demons rolled.
The third graders beat Farmington 38-6.
Cole Pontine scored four total touchdowns – two rushing and two receiving – to pave the way.
Linkin Griego passed for two touchdowns, while Malikai Bair and Wyatt Bartel both rushed for a score.
Marley Lynch made five tackles to pace the squad.
The Demons will host Bayfield at 9 a.m. Saturday at Miller Middle School.
As for the sixth graders, Durango ran around Kirtland 45-6.
The Demons had 13 different players carry the ball.
Emmett Thompson scored three touchdowns including two kickoff returns of more than 50 yards and a four-yard touchdown run.
Travis Barkley, Will Hardick and Nate Messier all ran for touchdowns, and Sam Greco returned an interception 42 yards for another score.
Messier and Taylen Yazzie each recovered a fumble, and Hadrick picked up a sack.
Mont Creek will visit the Demons at 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Middle School.
The fifth grade Demons lost 13-7 to Aztec and will play Bayfield at 1 p.m. Saturday at Miller Middle School.
The second grade Demons had a bye in Week 1 and will open with a road game at 5 p.m. Saturday in Kirtland.
