Holistic management of land to be discussed
The Veterans Homestead Project will bring a 13-day training series to the farming and ranching community in support of large-scale restoration of Fort Lewis Mesa’s grasslands through holistic land-management practices.
An information session will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Jan. 10 at the Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary School gym.
The project aims to support soil restoration and to have locally owned and managed farms and ranches serve as a hub for the Savory Institute, which promotes holistic land-management practices.
In addition, the project’s mission is to provide American combat veterans instruction in regenerative agriculture practices and to offer them a potential path toward fulfillment and a permanent source of income.
