Eight students from Fort Lewis College were named Collegiate Academic All-Stars by USA Cycling.
The students are: Sofia Gomez Villafane, Casey Hynes, Jenna MacPherson, Payson McElveen, Ian McPherson, Kolben Preble, Ryan Standish and Fallon Ward.
To achieve Academic All-Star status, students must attend a USA Collegiate Cycling National Championship and maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA for the semester or term during which the event falls.
The spring 2016 class of riders includes 53 students from schools across the country.
The FLC cycling team was ranked No. 2 in Division I after the 2015-16 academic year.
The Institute of American Indian Arts announces the availability of scholarships for qualified students in its business and entrepreneurship major.
The program’s slogan is “Don’t Just Make Art, Make a Living Making Art,” and it is one of few art schools in the United States to offer an online certificate in business/entrepreneurship.
The Business and Entrepreneurship Certificate Program lays a foundation in basic business skills and is specially designed to meet the needs of small-business owners and self-employed people.
Courses cover topics such as personal finance, accounting, marketing, small business development and how to write a business plan.
All alumni of the Ute Vocational School are invited to attend a reunion from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Ignacio.
The event will feature a potluck and a white elephant gift exchange.
Participants are asked to bring old photos and yearbooks.
