Threatening letter sent to Trump’s son

NEW YORK – Police and the FBI are investigating a threatening letter sent to the Manhattan apartment of Donald Trump’s son Eric that contained a white powder, two law enforcement officials said Friday.

Preliminary tests on the substance in the envelope sent to Eric Trump’s apartment Thursday indicated it was not hazardous. The handwritten letter was postmarked March 5 from Boston and referenced Donald Trump’s presidential bid.

The letter read: “If your father does not drop out of the race, the next envelope won’t be a fake.” It was signed “X,” said one of the law enforcement officials who had seen the letter.

Romney to vote for Cruz in Utah

Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney said Friday he will vote for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in the upcoming caucuses in his home state of Utah, intensifying his attack against front-runner Donald Trump.

“There is a contest between Trumpism and Republicanism,” Romney wrote on his official Facebook page. “Through the calculated statements of its leader, Trumpism has become associated with racism, misogyny, bigotry, xenophobia, vulgarity and, most recently, threats and violence. I am repulsed by each and every one of these.”

Responding on Twitter, Trump said, “Mitt Romney is a mixed-up man who doesn’t have a clue,” Trump wrote. “No wonder he lost!”

Group of rabbis plan boycott of Trump

NEW YORK – Dozens of rabbis are planning to boycott a scheduled speech by Donald Trump to the nation’s largest pro-Israeli lobbying group to protest what they feel is divisive rhetoric by the Republican presidential front-runner.

The rabbis plan to hand out fliers requesting that hundreds of attendees at the annual gathering of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee in Washington either skip Trump’s speech on Monday or stand up as Trump starts speaking and silently walk out.

“He embodies ‘Sinat chinam’ – senseless hatred,” said Rabbi David Paskin of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
