Electric deposit beyond residents’ means

The low-income community finally got a break thanks to the Lumien Apartment complex here in Durango. Little did the tenants know, the break they had just received would turn into a nightmare, thanks to LPEA. It turns out if you were lucky enough to get an apartment at Lumien, LPEA will charge you $700 for a deposit to get the electricity turned on! LPEA claims it’s because of the “new construction.” This complex is for low-income residents! These people don’t have $700 to put down on a deposit! LPEA needs a reality check and a new conscience!
