Expand airport for safety, not coffee

I am an international traveler and frequent the Durango-La Plata County Airport every other month. To me, it’s about airport safety, not that I can get a gourmet coffee. Shortly after the new Munich airport opened in Germany, it already surpassed the passenger capacity, and new terminals had to be built. If we are going to spend tax dollars to expand the La Plata County airport, it has to be about the future – not the quick fix now – and it has to be done with forward-thinking design, so it serves the safety of the travelers. Durango will continue to grow as a destination for urbanites to start a new way of life. For those of us who have lived here for some time, it’s about maintaining a lifestyle that is in keeping with why we settled here. I am all for growth and development but not if it comes at such a cost for those of us who already enjoy our regional airport as long it meets the safety standards of the FAA.
