Durango’s Two Bears Farm specializes in one compound and the products you can put it in – cannabidol, or CBD, derived from hemp.
“We create CBD products,” said Chris Burgess, operations manager of the farm. “We grow it all ourselves and we farm it and manage it ourselves, then we process it ourselves as well.”
The farm sells salves, tinctures and soap, and is getting ready to release smokable flowers, lotions and personal lubricants, he said. People can also order customized CBD products from the farm.
The farm has two locations: one on the north end of town and one on the south end. The farms are 100% organic and self-sustaining, he said.
“At the north one, we do all our processing; the south end, we do all the growing and drying and manicuring and all that. It’s all done in-house,” he said. “We make all the products ourselves,” ... Sara, the owner, is very gifted in making this stuff.”
The owner of the farm, Sara Sheeler, is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran – as is Burgess. And Burgess’ service ties directly into why he uses Two Bear’s products in addition to growing them.
“It is a great, therapeutic PTSD treatment for me,” Burgess said. He uses the farm’s tinctures twice a day, orally, to treat anxiety and pain and as a sleep aid.
He said the salves are good for topically treating pain and soreness and the CBD can also be used to calm animals, such as horses and dogs.
