Skywater Alpaca Fibers has been at the Durango Farmers Market since last year, but its products might be in limited supply.
Alison Epstein, who runs Skywater, has raised alpacas since about 2003, north of town on East Animas Road (County Road 250). However, that era is coming to an end.
“I just recently found homes for (her alpacas) because we’re packing up and moving to a property without room,” she said.
Epstein still has a stock of alpaca fiber products, though, selling dyed, natural yarns and rovings for spinners.
“All our products are natural alpaca products, and a friend dyes the dyed pieces for me,” she said.
