Durango Film – An Independent Film Festival recently announced the appointment of several new members to its board of directors. The ninth annual festival will take place Feb. 26, through March 2.
“We are pleased and grateful to have added a depth of talent and wisdom to our board of directors this year,” said Joanie Fraughton, executive director of Durango Film in a news release. “We’re in a very pivotal stage of the festival’s growth, and the leadership of these new members will be valuable in shaping both this year’s festival and the future of our organization.”
Durango Film’s board of directors includes:
Current members: Bill Niblick, board president; Barry Spear; Lisa S. Schuba; Judy Abercrombie
New members: Asa Allen, owner, Allen Theatres; Scot Davis, film and video pre- and post-production specialist, Fast Forward Productions and Inside Durango TV; Carla Finlay, paralegal and a founding member of the film festival; John Harper, student of tourism and hospitality management at Fort Lewis College and business development officer for the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad; Denise Leslie, owner and publisher of Arts Perspective and Southwest Arts Programs; and Aimee Martin, pre-school teacher at New Horizons and retail sales associate with Durango Coffee Co.
“With the rebranding of our festival to Durango Film last year, we are seeing even greater growth and recognition as the premier film event both in Durango and in Southwest Colorado. The well-rounded nature of our board of directors brings a wealth of experience and skill to lead continuous improvement of the festival to the benefit of film enthusiasts and the Durango community,” Niblick said. The event previously was known as Durango Independent Film Festival.
