The Fort Lewis College cycling team finished fourth overall in the Division I Varsity standings at Collegiate Road Nationals over the weekend in Grand Junction.
Marian University was dominant and ran away with the team omnium title.
Cormac McGeough had the best results for FLC as he finished second in the Division II Road Race behind Westminster’s Robert Squire. Lucas Rowton also gave the Skyhawks a top-10 as he took 10th in the Road Race while Andre Bos finished 11th, Kevin Callahan took 14th, Ian McPherson was 16th and Emmanuel Gagne took 28th.
Gagne the fastest Skyhawk in the criterium. His sixth-place effort was followed by Rowton in 15th, McPherson in 21st and Peter Behm’s 32nd-place finish.
Rowton was the top FLC finisher in the individual omnium as he took 10th. Gagne was 12th and McPherson finished 17th.
The Skyhawks men finished third in the team time trial behind second-place Colorado Mesa and Marian, which won in 42:42.39.
The women finished fifth in the team time trial as Marian’s matched the men with the win. Fort Lewis’ Charlotte Backus took 10th, Kelsey Lundberg was 18th and Ellen Campbell 20th in the Road Race. Backus also finished 14th in the criterium while Campbell came in 24th, Lundberg was 30th and Musselman claimed 32nd.
Backus also placed 12th in the individual omnium. RMAC rival Colorado Mesa had three riders place in the omnium’s top 11 with Ariane Horbach (8), Natalia Franco (10) and Josefine Dreier (11) placing just ahead of Fort Lewis freshman Backus.
FLC’s Campbell was 23rd in the individual omnium while Lundberg was 25th and Tristen Musselman was 32nd.
