The Fort Lewis College women’s lacrosse team laid a beatdown on the rival Adams State University Grizzlies at home Friday at Ray Dennison Memorial Field in Durango.
FLC outshot Adams State 34-15 and won the draw controls 18-5 to dominate possession en route to a 21-0 win.
The Skyhawks (4-5, 4-2 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) took a 14-0 lead into halftime.
Abby Escandon and Kelli Warmouth led the Skyhawks with four goals each. Warmouth now has 26 goals this season, and Escandon more than doubled her season total to get to seven. Taylor Cabrera and Regan Olson also scored three goals apiece, as Cabrera now has 19 this year while Olson boasts 18.
Delaney Benson, Brooke Galle and Shelby Madden all scored two goals in the win, and Allena Wolfblack scored one goal.
Escandon and Ann Nelson each had two assists. FLC also received assists from Benson, Galle, Anna Dennison, Olson and Warmouth.
FLC put 28 shots on goal to eight for the Grizzlies (1-6, 0-4 RMAC).
With the big lead, FLC played two goalkeepers. Daris Wienk started and earned the win. She made four saves. Aly Guerrero also made four saves in goal during the second half. Alexis Wellong made seven saves for Adams State.
FLC has another big game at noon Sunday at home against Colorado Mesa University (7-2, 4-2 RMAC).
