Fort Lewis College’s El Centro will host the annual “Fiesta on the Mesa” dinner and show from 6 to 8 p.m. April 6 in the Student Union Ballroom, as part of Ballet Folklorico de Durango’s crowdfunding campaign and celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Donations will be accepted through April 20.
Ballet Folklorico de Durango is a k-20 educational program of Fort Lewis College’s El Centro, and acts as a mechanism for cultural storytelling through dance, especially as it relates to Mexican Folklore. Their goal is to raise $5,000 to sustain and grow Ballet Folklorico de Durango for the 2019-20 academic year. Money raised will go toward instructor salaries, scholarships for FLC student dancers, tuition support for youth and community members and professional development for students and staff.
Support Ballet Folklorico by donating online at www.impact.fortlewis.edu or purchasing tickets for sale from any local dancer, or at FLC’s El Centro, room 40 of the student union between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
