After the first round at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate, the Fort Lewis College men’s golf team is tied for 20th place.
The event is being held at the University Golf Course in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where host Western New Mexico leads the 24-team tournament with a 282.
Chico State’s Alistair Docherty and Monterey Bay’s Carr Vernon led all 120 golfers after the opening round by shooting 5-under-par 67 on the 7,204-yard layout.
For the Skyhawks, Mitchell Donley leads with a 72, tying him for 21st overall.
Matt Huntley and Michael Thomas are tied for 74th place after firing 76. Dillon Washburn shot a 79 for 99th place, followed by Ryan Tanner, who shot 90 to stand in 107th.
The second and third rounds of the tournament will be held Tuesday.
