Summertime in Whalen Gymnasium means basketball camps for local youth basketball players.
New head coach Jordan Mast and his staff are hosting numerous camps throughout this summer on the Fort Lewis campus.
The next camp is the FLC men’s basketball team camp which runs Friday-Sunday. Each team needs a minimum of seven players and the ages span from ninth to 12th grade. Each team is guaranteed five games. The cost is $70 per player if they commute and $120 per player if they stay two nights in the dorms.
Although the first individual camp has passed, the second individual camp begins on Monday and goes until Thursday. On Monday and Wednesday, the camp goes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Thursday the camp goes from 9 a.m. to noon.
Campers from fourth grade to 12th grade will pay $225 with lunch included for commuters. For those staying in the dorms, it will be $325 with lunch included.
The third individual camp from June 24-27 has the same age range and price as the second one except it’s commuter only. Another difference is it goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday.
From Aug. 1-4, the FLC men’s basketball program will host the offensive/shooting skills camp. It’s for fifth through 12th graders and the camp will go from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It costs $200 for each commuter.
Finally, in the fall FLC will host Sunday Skill Session with the Skyhawks on Sept. 17, 24 and Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29. The cost is $200 for all seven sessions for any interested players in a group of fifth through eighth graders and ninth through 12th graders.
