Four Corners Veterans Stand Down set for Nov. 15, volunteers needed

The Archuleta County Veterans For Veterans, along with the Disabled American Veterans, Volunteers of America, Red Cross, Veterans Administration and County veterans service officers from Archuleta, La Plata and Montezuma counties will sponsor the Four Corners Veterans Stand Down on Nov. 15 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds. This event will provide the homeless and struggling veterans of our surrounding counties with support, encouragement and resources to help them integrate back into the civilian world.

This one-day event will provide showers, haircuts, food, clothing, medical and mental attention, social services, legal assistance, job and housing referrals from each county, and much more.

We are seeking sponsors and volunteers to provide either financial or in- kind donations as well as hosting a resource table. If you would like to share your skills and time for this rewarding experience, please contact Janna Schaefer at 749-1673 or email her at Standdowndurango@gmail.con.

We are in need of people to assist with the following resources and services: education, mental health, social services, legal, housing assistance, job referrals, medical, dental, vision, hearing, counseling, AA and NA, clothing, hot meals, taxes, spiritual guidance, barbers and beauticians.

"Stand down is a hand up, not a hand out."
