I would like to add my name to the chorus of people who object to the removal of the portico at Francisco’s. How could the commission state that a Spanish design is not appropriate in Durango when much of Colorado, like many other states, was once part of Mexico.
A few years ago I hosted a language teacher from France and she was so excited to see all the Spanish names around town that she took pictures of them to take back to her classes.
I like Victoriana very much but really it would be a little Disneylandish to have the whole town with one theme.
