A freeze warning is in effect from midnight until 9 a.m. Wednesday for much of Western Colorado, from Mancos and Cortez to Gateway, according to the National Weather Service.

Locations include Cortez, Mancos, Dove Creek, Dolores, Delta, Montrose, Nucla, Hotchkiss and Canyonlands National Park.

Temperatures are expected to dip into the mid-20s tonight. Subfreezing temperatures are likely to damage or kill sensitive early budding vegetation.

The cold snap in Southwest Colorado is expected to taper off by Wednesday afternoon, as high temperatures reach the mid-50s, and overnight lows bounce back into the mid-30s. Winds on Wednesday are expected to be about 5-10 mph.

There’s a 30 percent chance of rain and snow showers on Thursday night and Friday morning. Highs are expected to be in the mid-60s on Thursday and near 50 on Friday. Lows will be in the mid-30s.

The high temperature on Saturday is expected to be 58 degrees; and on Sunday, 65 degrees.
