Get rewarded this spring for shopping local

The Durango Business Improvement District is proud to announce its next shop local promotion – Spring Rewards. This promotion incentivizes and rewards you for shopping locally this spring. Shop at local businesses to earn a gift card as your reward.

BID’s Spring Rewards promotion is presented by Alpine Bank and sponsored by Urban Market and the Durango Chamber of Commerce. It starts on April 1 and will continue until all the rewards have been claimed.

Here is how you can claim a reward:

The first step is to spend $25 or more at an eligible business. Eligible businesses are members of the Durango Chamber of Commerce, or that are located in the boundaries of the BID (downtown and the North Main District), and are in any of these sectors – accommodations, attractions, food and beverage, personal services and retail. There will be about 400 businesses where purchases are eligible to help you earn a reward. A full list will be posted soon at DowntownDurango.org.

The next step is to reach a spending level. If you spend $250, you can claim one of 70 $25 rewards. If you spend $400, you can claim one of 180 $50 rewards. There are 250 rewards available. You can combine up to 10 receipts to reach either of the two spending levels. Each receipt must be at least $25.

When your purchases add up to your desired spending level, you can submit your receipts on BID’s website at DowntownDurango.org. Scroll down to the Spring Rewards section to get started. You will add some required information to your receipt that is noted on the website, then take a photo of it. Once you have photos of all your receipts, you will submit them on a form on the website.

The website will confirm that your purchases have reached a spending level and then you can claim your reward. You will choose your $25 or $50 gift card from a list of about 15 local businesses. Once all 250 rewards have been claimed, and the BID staff have verified your submission, the gift cards will be mailed. BID anticipates that the 250 rewards will be claimed by the end of April.

Be sure you enter an email address that you check frequently when you submit your receipts. If there are any problems with your submission, that is how you will be contacted. Also be sure your receipt has all the required information on it, and that the photo is clear so that all details are visible. Read through the rules before submitting your receipts.

If you receive a tax refund, save some of it for purchases at local, eligible businesses. Check out the end of winter sales for good deals that qualify for BID’s Spring Rewards. Perhaps you are ready to purchase camping gear, or a new bike, for this summer. Fort Lewis College graduation is coming up on May 4, and Mother’s Day is May 12. Celebrate the new graduates in your life, and honor your mom, by making those purchases at eligible businesses in April this year. Submit your receipts at DowntownDurango.org to earn your reward.
