Give Christmas cheer to Annie’s Orphans

Christmas is coming very soon. It is a time when we show our love, caring and appreciation to the people very dear to our hearts. Christmas can also be a time when we share our love with the four-legged pets that we cherish so much. We give them special doggie treats, toys to play with and, of course, extra love.

I am writing this for Annie’s Orphans and for those dogs that do not have everything our buddies have at home. But these dogs are loved by a dear person. Annie handles a huge job that most people don’t know or don’t want to know. She has been doing this for 35 years and will probably do this 35 more, with our help.

I asked Annie what she needed most. She responded promptly with a list. She needs warm coats for medium and large dogs; she has enough coats for her small dogs. She also needs heated dog buckets and/or bird bath heaters so that their water doesn’t freeze. They all have heated enclosures to be in if they want, but mostly, they seem to enjoy being outside in a large area, which is fenced for safety.

Some of the dogs need canned food because they may not be able to chew on kibble. All the dogs like treats: their favorite goodies are pepperoni, soft chicken jerky and bacon strips. Annie feels that her pups are very special, and she hopes to get treats that are made in the United States.

For those of you who are able to make a cash donation, they will always be appreciated. You can go to First National Bank of Durango and mention the Annie’s Orphans’ account. I know I have given you a lot to think about, but please open your hearts and share your love with these special dogs.

Annie would also like to show her situation to anyone who would like to visit.

If you need to reach me with any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me at 247-9260.
