Live by Living walk helps cancer patients

The first Live by Living walk will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Blueprints of Hope, a local nonprofit which provides cancer nurse navigation, information and resources to patients and caregivers, has introduced Live by Living, a walking and hiking group.

The support group encourages cancer patients, survivors and caregivers to experience the outdoors through walking and hiking. Walks are typically scheduled every second and fourth Fridays of the month, with “Living the Moment” discussions held after the second monthly walk. A trained mental health or health care professional will lead the group discussion.

Most walks will occur along the Animas River Trail. Hikes on surrounding trails will be scheduled later in the year.
