Veterans health fair to be held June 21
The New Mexico VA Health Care System will host a health fair for area veterans from 1 to 4 p.m. June 21 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4031, 1550 Main Ave. in Durango.
Veterans and their family members will have an opportunity to learn about VA programs, including nine Healthy Living Messages. VA staff members also will be on hand to help veterans enroll in the free My HealtheVet program. My HealtheVet gives veterans information and access to VA-performed blood and urine test results, immunization records, appointments and secure messaging.
Other health-care information will be available during the fair, including the Women’s Health Program, information for returning veterans and the VA’s Chronic Disease Self Management program.

Acupuncturist to discuss allergies Thursday
Caleb Gates, licensed acupuncturist, will discuss how to resolve allergy symptoms using Advanced Allergy Therapeutics, needle-free treatments designed to change the body’s reaction to allergens, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Program Room 2 of Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Heart Safe to offer first aid, CPR trainings this month
Heart Safe La Plata will offer these basic first-aid and adult CPR trainings at the Durango Fire & Rescue Authority training room, 142 Sheppard Drive:
An adult CPR/AED course will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday. This course will cost $50 and provides a two-year certification.
CPR PRO for Healthcare Professional will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. June 13. This course will cost $65, and covers adult, child and infant CPR.
A combination class of CPR and basic first aid will take place June 18. The adult CPR/AED class will begin at 9 a.m., and the first-aid class will start at 1 p.m. The cost of the two classes will be $70.
Instructors also are available to teach businesses or organizations.
