Healing Spirits will host a recovery workshop from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Peaceful Spirit, 296 Mouache Drive in Ignacio.
The workshop will follow the Wellbriety Community Re-entry Program model, which explores the effects of intergenerational trauma on indigenous people. The goal of the workshop is to create a local community of recovery.
Healing Spirits believes people have the potential to heal and transform themselves and the community they live in.
Healing Spirits’ programming currently includes memorial walks, the New Year Sobriety Pow Wow, the Children’s Pow Wow, a poetry slam, recovery panel presentations and volunteer opportunities at Peaceful Spirit.
Future programming will include a weekly Wellbriety support group, a weekly Alateen group and ongoing recovery workshops.
Healing Spirits is committed to promoting community health by sponsoring family-oriented, sober activities.
