Heart Safe to offer CPR, first-aid classes
Heart Safe La Plata will offer these classes at the Durango Fire & Rescue Authority training room, 142 Sheppard Drive:
An adult CPR/AED course will take place at 6 p.m. Jan. 16. This course will cost $50 and provides a two-year certification.
CPR PRO for the health-care professional will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Jan. 9. The cost is $65. This course will cover adult, child and infant CPR.
Online CPR and first-aid training is available. Participants can take the online course and schedule the hands-on skills portion to receive a two-year certification. The cost for either CPR or basic first aid is $50.
Instructors are available to teach at businesses or organizations.

Blueprints of Hope receives grant
Blueprints of Hope has recently been selected to receive a grant from the Colorado Cancer Fund to provide more information and educational resources to cancer survivors and patients in Southwest Colorado.
Taxpayers can choose to donate to the Colorado Cancer Fund on the state income tax form. Through taxpayer awareness and generosity, this year’s awards total $65,000.
Blueprints of Hope is a community-based program that provides resources, advocacy, education, guidance and support to anyone who has been affected by cancer.
