Mercy spine program receives recognition

The spine surgery program at Mercy Regional Medical Center was recognized with a Healthgrades Specialty Excellence Award, ranking it among the top 100 hospitals in the nation.

Patients at award hospitals have fewer complications and are more likely to survive their hospital stay.

Healthgrades is an online resource that helps consumers search, compare and connect with physicians and hospitals.

A five-star rating indicates that a hospital’s clinical outcomes are better than expected when treating the condition or conducting the procedure being evaluated.

According to Healthgrades, Mercy performs at a high level in several areas related to spine surgery and has received five-star ratings in these areas: spine surgery (2012 and 2013); spine surgery – spinal fusion (2014); spine surgery – except spinal fusion (2013). Healthgrades also ranked Mercy No. 1 in Colorado for spine surgery in 2012 and 2013.
