What you can do about radon

A class about radon will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Florida Room of the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.

Participants will learn what radon is, why to care and what to do with the information after a home has been tested.

A limited number of short-term test kits will be available free of charge for people taking the class.

Blueprints of Hope helps with cancer

Blueprints of Hope has been selected as one of 13 Colorado organizations to receive a grant from the Colorado Cancer Fund.

The grant enabled Blueprints to purchase breast-cancer treatment handbooks for doctors to distribute to patients.

Written step-by-step information about treatment options prepares patients to work with their surgeons to make informed decisions about their care.

Blueprints of Hope is a community-based nonprofit offering advocacy, education and support to communities in Southwest Colorado.

Mercy to host blood drives

Mercy Regional Medical Center will host these blood drives:

4 to 7 p.m. April 29 in conference rooms A and B.

Life Coaching Group helps you reach goals

A four-week Life Coaching Group is available.

The program will allow people to create an accountability system to reach their goals and dreams.

The group will give people a guided system to help them have balance at home and work. A free introductory class will meet from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Inhabit, 1970 East Third Ave.
