Mind-body medicine can benefit health

A free community introduction to mind-body medicine will be offered from 6 to 7 p.m. June 2 at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Mind-body medicine focuses on the interactions of the mind and body supporting self-awareness and self-care to enhance health and healing.

Some of the techniques demonstrated will be discussed in “The Connection,” a film that will be screened from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mercy Regional Medical Center.

Many chronic illnesses including hypertension, cardiovascular disease, anxiety, depression, psoriasis and cancer have been shown to have improved outcomes when mind-body techniques are employed.
