Farmington hospital offers free flu vaccinations

San Juan Regional Medical Center will offer free vaccinations at five different Four Corners locations.

The “Fight the Flu” campaign will host clinics in October and November to ensure that as many people as possible are vaccinated.

San Juan Regional Medical Center’s free clinics will be available for adults 18 and older, and will include a drive-thru option. Vaccinations are provided on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies run out.

Those attending the drive-thru clinic at San Juan Regional Medical Center’s north visitor parking lot should wear short-sleeve shirts and be ready for their vaccine by the time their car reaches the nurse.

There will be signs posted to help drivers find the parking lot, located at the corner of Maple Street and Schwartz Avenue.

These clinics will be held:

The drive-thru clinic will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 24 at The San Juan Regional Medical Center.

9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 27 at the Bloomfield Senior Center, 124 Ash Ave., Bloomfield.

9 to 11 a.m. Oct. 28 at the Aztec Civic/Senior Center, 101 South Park Ave., Aztec.

9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 4 at the Lower Valley Senior Center, 17 Road 6668, Fruitland.

Learn about health insurance options

San Juan Basin Health Department can help people learn about their health insurance options.

Health coverage guides with Connect for Health, Colorado’s health insurance marketplace, are providing free, in-person assistance with the enrollment process during open enrollment from Nov. 1 through Jan. 31, 2016.

In addition, health coverage guides will provide outreach, training and mentorship for new and existing insurance counselors in the five-county region (Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, Montezuma and San Juan) and tribal nations. The health department received $115,000 to provide these services.

In addition, the health department received $50,000 to fund the Healthy Communities program. In this program, the family health coordinator provides clients with assistance in navigating the Medicaid and CHP+ health insurance programs.
