Cancer patients can join support group
Blueprints of Hope invites people who are experiencing any phase of a cancer diagnosis to the program “Cancer Journaling: The Healing Power of Gratitude” from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
The classes will be held on the third Tuesday of every month and are free. Participants should bring something to write on.

You can nominate nurses for awards
The Southwestern Colorado Area Health Education Center announces the call for nominations for the STAR Nursing Awards.
Community members are invited to nominate deserving nurses. Two awards will be presented: the Shining Star Award for an expert nurse and the Rising Star Award for a novice nurse.
The Shining Star Award honors a nurse who has 15 or more years of experience, who has demonstrated leadership skills and who has made an impact on the profession and/or patients.
The Rising Star Award honors a nurse who has five years or less of experience, who shows leadership and growth potential and who has made or is making an impact on the profession and/or patients.
The deadline to nominate a nurse is April 18. The awards will be presented May 5, during National Nurses Week.
