Lynn Westberg receives health award

The Citizens Health Advisory Council awarded the second annual Health Hero Award to Lynn Westberg at the nonprofit’s annual celebration Jan. 9.

Westberg is a retired nurse and coordinator of volunteers at the La Plata Community Clinic.

She served as the executive director of the San Juan Basin Health Department for 24 years, retiring as director in 2009.

At the event, Marsha Porter-Norton, Missy Rodey and Jenny Wrenn all spoke about Westberg’s character and hard work.

The council also welcomes Dr. Bob Cox, a physician and consultant, as the newest member of the board. Cox is double-board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases.

He is an infectious disease consultant and case reviewer for multiple independent review organizations.

San Juan Regional elects new board

San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington elected the 2014-15 board of directors at its corporation meeting last month.

Members of the hospital’s corporation – which consists of nonprofit organizations in San Juan County – make up its board of directors and represent the voice of the community.

Members of the board work with senior management and are directly involved with strategic planning for the hospital.

Charlene Scott, board member since 2010 and representative of the Four Corners Human Resources Association, is the newly elected board chairwoman.

New board member Bruce Glade represents Trinity Lutheran Church.

Returning board member Jim Shaheen represents First Presbyterian Church.
