Resolving allergies to be discussed

Licensed acupuncturist Caleb Gates will give a presentation called “Resolving Airborne Allergies, Allergic Asthma and Food Sensitivities” at 6 p.m. April 14 at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Centura names new president

Centura Health has named Peter D. Banko president and chief operating officer, effective May 1. Gary S. Campbell, will continue to serve as chief executive officer.

Banko brings extensive health care executive experience to Centura Health and most recently served as senior vice president, group executive officer and chief integration officer of Catholic Health Initiatives.

At Catholic Health Initiatives, Banko oversaw operations for the Arkansas, eastern Ohio and Tennessee markets, and he provided transitional leadership for the New Jersey, Pennsylvania and East Texas markets.

Within the last two years, he supported the integration of St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, North Dakota; Sylvania Franciscan Health in Sylvania, Ohio; and CHI St. Luke’s Memorial in Lufkin, Texas.

Banko holds a master’s of health administration from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, and a bachelor’s of business administration from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.
