Cardiac screenings available to kids

A free cardiac screening for adolescents ages 13 to 18 will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 16 at San Juan Regional Medical Center, 801 West Maple St., in Farmington.

The screening will include a limited echo and baseline EKG. Cardiologists and San Juan Regional Heart Center staff members will be present for interpretation of results.

Advanced registration is required and can be done at www.sanjuanregional.com. Participants must bring a consent and participation form to their scheduled appointment. The forms can be found on the website.

A parent or legal guardian must be present. Teens who have been screened within the past two years do not need to be screened again. Limited time slots are for people who have never been screened.

Neurological disorders to be discussed

A free class is available to people suffering with intractable neurological disorders at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and July 22 at 1800 East Third Ave, Suite 108, next to Durango Public Library.

The class will be lead by chiropractor Clayton Sullwold of Atlas Specific. Participants will learn how upper cervical care can help. All are welcome.
