TDAP vaccinations will be available Nov. 6

Montezuma County Public Health Department is offering free tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (TDAP) vaccination shots from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 6 at Montezuma County Annex, 106 West North St. in Cortez.

Supplies are limited to the first 180 walk-ins; no appointment is necessary.

The TDAP vaccine is required for all children going into sixth grade. A tetanus shot is suggested for all adults every 10 years. A pertussis shot is suggested for pregnant women and anyone who spends time with very young children.

As a training exercise, the Southwest Incident Management Team, a multi-agency team, will work with health department staff members and volunteers in setting up the event, securing the area, responding to the special needs of patients and completing a point-of-distribution site.

This team is the fifth Type III incident management team certified by the state of Colorado.
