Heart Safe La Plata to offer CPR trainings

Heart Safe La Plata will offer these CPR trainings to the community at the Durango Fire & Rescue Authority training room, 142 Sheppard Drive:

An adult CPR/AED training will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday. This course will cost $50 and provides a two-year certification.

CPR PRO for Healthcare Professionals will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. May 9. The cost will be $65. The course covers adult, child and infant CPR.

Free vitality screening for seniors Tuesday

Guardian Angel Home Health will offer a free vitality screening to residents of Cedar View Apartments and seniors in the community older than 60 on Tuesday.

Screenings at the apartment complex in Durango will include: blood pressure, temperature, oxygen-saturation level, weight and heart rate.

Air Quality Awareness Week starts today

Air Quality Awareness Week, sponsored by the National Weather Service and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, runs today through Friday. This year’s theme is “Air Quality, Important at Every Age.”

The goal of the week is to provide information on outdoor air pollution and its effect on the quality of the air we breathe. A different air-quality topic will be addressed each day.
