Healthcare Durango will host a free documentary screening of “Big Pharma: Market Failure” from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
The documentary explores the problem of extreme drug prices in the U.S. and how drug costs affect people, businesses and the U.S. economy.
Prices for brand prescription drugs increased 264% between 2008 and 2015 while inflation rose at only 12%. This led to 20 million Americans not filling their prescriptions because of cost, which can cause serious health consequences and expensive hospital stays.
The documentary explores solutions that makes business sense for employers and health sense for people.
