Herald should cover culture change

I was saddened to learn that Chase Olivarius-McAllistar has left the Herald. I am happy for her that she has taken her career to the next stage. I would like for this paper to follow up on the incident that occurred here in Durango in regard to the less-than-mature behavior of some of our fine La Plata County Sheriff’s Department officers.

I wonder if this had anything to do with Olivarius-McAllistar’s decision to move on. Also, I am curious as to what kind of disciplinary action (if any) has occurred for these officers. Also, has the sheriff started any kind of formal training program to educate his officers as to proper behavior while in uniform? Changing culture in a workplace is a difficult task and the new sheriff has a big job in front of him. I hope the Herald chooses to cover it.
