Hermosa bill is the right way to protect area

The mountains, deserts and rivers of Southwest Colorado entice folks to plant roots in Durango – roots that, as a local contractor, I’m happy to help construct. The Hermosa Creek Watershed Protection Act is a fine example of why people choose to live in Southwest Colorado. It’s a progressive approach to protecting important areas, using special management areas, wilderness and mineral withdrawals to protect nearly 108,000 acres northwest of town. A U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee heard testimony on the bill earlier this month.

I’d like to thank Rep. Scott Tipton for championing this legislation in the House and ensuring it moves to the House floor for a full vote in the coming months.
