The Ignacio boys basketball team opened 3A/4A Intermountain League action with a furious second-half rally, topping Alamosa 37-32 on Friday night.
The Bobcats trailed 23-13 at halftime, but outscored the Mean Moose 24-9 in the second half.
Senior center Gabe Cox and sophomore guard Ambrose Valdez scored nine and seven points, respectively.
Ignacio improved to 5-4 this season, while Alamosa dropped to 7-3.
Alamosa survived Ignacio’s fourth-quarter comeback to secure a 53-47 win Friday night at IHS Gymnasium, snapping a three-game losing streak.
Credited with four three-pointers, Ignacio junior Marissa Olguin tallied 12 points, while sophomore Alyssa Atencio nailed three 3s and ended up with 11 points – all during the first half.
Alamosa junior Morgan Ortega tallied 13 points, while sophomores Aubrey Rothermich and Jaelin Garcia each scored 11 points.
Ignacio dropped to 4-5, 0-1 in 3A/4A Intermountain League play. Alamosa improved to 7-4 and 1-0 in league play.
