The Ignacio High School volleyball team was bounced out of contention of the Class 2A Colorado High School Activities Association volleyball state tournament Saturday in the Class 2A Region G tournament, which was held at Ridgway High School.
The Bobcats (15-9, 11-1 2A/1A San Juan Basin League) lost to host team Ridgway 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-20) in the opening match. It was the second time in a week that Ignacio faced Ridgway (22-2, 11-1). The Bobcats lost their final home match 3-1 to the Demons to end the regular season.
In the second game for Ignacio, the Bobcats lost to Paonia 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-21) to put the Bobcats away for good for 2015. Paonia (21-4, 11-1 2A/1A Western Slope Grand Mesa League) ended up winning the regional tournament, punching its ticket to the state tournament by also beating Ridgway 3-1 (25-15, 25-13, 27-29, 25-21).
Other 2A state qualifying teams are Rye, Resurrection Christian, Cedaredge, Kiowa, Fowler, Yuma and Limon.
