I have been honored to serve Durango on the City Council for the last eight year and I want to thank many people, first of all, the voters who trusted me to make thoughtful decisions for the city.
I am grateful to my fellow councilors: Sweetie Marbury, Doug Lyon, Paul Broderick, Christina Rinderle, Dean Brookie, Keith Brant, Melissa Youssef and Chris Bettin, for their commitments to the city and to collegial decision making.
We did not always agree – after all, the community is never unanimous on difficult issues – but I always trusted them to render their best judgments on the issues before us.
Thanks to the city staff, from City Manager Ron LeBlanc and the senior staff to the folks who do the sometimes hard, dirty and too little recognized labor to make Durango a great place to live.
Thanks also go to the 100-plus volunteers who serve on boards and commissions, as well as to other volunteers, e.g., at police headquarters and in the library, who contribute to our collective efforts.
I acknowledge my gratitude to the core of people who guided my two election campaigns and others who provided support with money, legwork, and phone calls.
Above all, I thank my wife, Faye Schrater, for her daily support and her acceptance of the impact of my public service on our life together.
