July’s end doesn’t mean tournaments do

As we are about to leave the month of July behind us, tournament play does not take a back seat now that August is on our doorstep.

There are several upcoming events, including respective club championships, on the docket.

I will have results of the Hillcrest Junior Club Championship for you next week since my deadline cut me a bit short.

And, speaking of juniors, the Hillcrest Adult/Junior Tournament, presented by Coldwell Banker Heritage House Realtors, will be held Aug. 2.

There is $250 in added prize purse and an entry fee of $15 per person.

Scoring will be net, and tee times begin at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The Second Annual Dalton Ranch Women’s Golf Association Rally for the Cure Tournament will be held August 5th.

This is a four-person team event with the two best net balls used for scoring.

The entry fee is $20 for DRWGA members, and non-members pay entry fee plus greens and cart fees.

You can sign up in the DRGC Pro Shop.

The monthly Dalton Ranch Golf Club Couples tournament also will be Aug. 2nd.

I need to give a shout out for the annual Dudley Engle Memorial Tournament on August 15th at Hillcrest Golf Club.

This event raises funds for the Emblem Club of Durango for their many local charitable causes.

I do have results of one junior golf tournament from July 16th:

1. Anthony Flint, Nathan Newman, Luke Tichi and Natasha Walcott, 33.

2. Lucas Carlson, Logan Dietrich, Marcus Flint and Cole Waddell, 40.
