Keep Buckley Park for the people

What is the city and 9R thinking? Buckley Park is the gem of downtown. To sell the Buckley Park parcel and see it become another hotel (we already have too many) or condo unit is unthinkable. Why doesn't the city purchase the property? Surely its beauty and serenity are worth far more than the millions being used for an underpass at 32nd Street!

In winter, kids slide there in the snow. Holiday season is ushered in, celebrated and enjoyed with the lighting of the large pine in the southwest corner of the park. In spring, young and old alike use the park as a playground/ picnic area and place to relax. There are summer concerts, art fairs and the beer fest. This names only a few of the things that occur in the park, and makes Durango the unique and special place it has been for decades.

Sadly, our town is becoming less of a place to live, and more of “high-rise haven” for any developer. Please please keep Buckley Park for the people of Durango.
