Thanks to Butch Knowlton for having our backs here in La Plata County time after time. Before the Missionary Ridge Fire was even out, he was already talking to us about the future flooding events we would experience.
It was hard to imagine flooding when we were in the middle of a hot, dry weather pattern, but Knowlton went ahead quickly and set into place a system of flood alerts on the perimeter of the burned area that still serve us well today. And true to his word, those areas flooded soon after, sending mud, rocks and boulders onto the roads.
I wonder how many people Knowlton spared from being caught in the dangerous flood debris.
He works without fanfare, getting the job done, for the county that he knows so well.
We are fortunate to have him protecting us, and I for one am very grateful.
