A free introduction to Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at the Smiley Building, in Studio 12, 1309 East Third Ave.

Originally created as a treatment for recurrent depression and shown through extensive research to be as effective as anti-depressant medication in reducing the risk of relapse, MBCT is an effective way of coping with the stress, low moods and mental chatter.

The public is invited to this session by Janet Curry, a mental health counselor in private practice and certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction provider. Curry is currently earning a master’s degree in MBCT at Oxford University.

For more information about this session or the MBCT class beginning June 14, call 779-0611 or email janet@stillpointmindfulnesstraining.com.
