Let’s make it illegal for Trump to lie

Congress should pass a law that makes it a felony for an elected or appointed public official to lie to the American people.

Our first president was renowned for his inability to lie. Our 16th president’s nickname included the word “honest.” Our current president is renowned for his inability to tell the truth. Sadly, too many Americans are OK with this.

If the truth does not matter, if you actually believed that Mexico was going to cough up $20 billion for a border wall, you should do yourself and your country a favor – stay home next Election Day. Toss your mail-in ballot in the recycling bin and ponder the wisdom of Forest Gump: “Being an idiot is no box of chocolates.”
