Letter: Republicans aid and abet Trump the criminal

What crimes has Donald Trump committed?

Certainly violations of the emoluments clause, graft, violations of the Hatch Act, inciting insurrection, election interference, soliciting foreign involvement in his election (from Russia and Ukraine), obstruction of justice and violations of campaign finance laws.

Probable crimes include rape (E. Jean Carroll), sexual misconduct, murder (Michael Reinoehl), income tax evasion and fraud, advocating political violence, politicizing the justice department, and crimes against humanity (for his mishandling of the pandemic).

Lying 30,000 times in his four years in office just counts as bad behavior, except for instances of libel in those lies.

Most of the Republicans in Congress have chosen to stand by Trump, some openly supporting the insurrection, and most vowing to block impeachment conviction, and turning against the few Republicans who have come out against Trump. The Republican leader of the House is meeting with Trump to plan party strategy.

Trump is a crook, and hopefully the criminal justice system will put him away. But in the meantime, the Republican party is supporting him when they could choose otherwise. This is a moment in history when a major American political party is openly choosing to aid and abet crime.
