What a breath of fresh air to read Steve Self’s letter about what it really means to be a Republican, not what the party has devolved into in recent years.
I am a voter who has, in the past, voted for both Republican and Democratic candidates, but have been completely pushed away from the GOP as they have strayed from their core principles.
What it means to be an American and involved in the democratic process should mean that even though I might disagree with a fellow citizen like Steve’s viewpoints, I can be respectful of his positions and him, and understand that protecting our systems of governance is infinitely more important than either of our personal beliefs.
Thank you again, Steve, for a plea to return to the rational.
