I’m a Colorado man born right here in Durango. From my understanding, we have zero confirmed cases of COVID-19 here in the southwestern portion of Colorado? It’s difficult to determine the actual number because it spreads asymptomatically.
From the data I have read, every person infected will transmit the virus to 1.5 to 4 others. The German chancellor Angela Merkel claims 60-70% of humanity will contract it.
The most frightening aspect of COVID-19 is the inundation of hospitals. People experiencing symptoms will flood the hospitals and people with other conditions will not receive proper treatment.
I am writing today to ask you to overreact. An overreaction from government will save lives, it will save people from a difficult time and in the end those living will be grateful. I’m asking you to sequester La Plata County away from the rest of the state. Set up drive-in testing facilities even if you If you do not have enough tests, you can take temperatures at stops and public entrances until the tests arrive. Make plans to purchase or rent an area for quarantine other than Mercy. You may not have the authority to close businesses but you do have the authority to close roads.
